How to arrive at Toledo- Recommended

After your arrival at Madrid-Adolfo Suarez Airport, it is strongly recommended that you take the subway/train to Atocha Station and from there take the High-Speed train (AVE in Spanish) to Toledo . The journey is about 1h 10 m if the timing is correct. The average daily frequency is about 15 trains per day between 06:30 and 21:30.

Toledo is a small city, but the railway station is a bit outside the historic centre. We recommend taking a Tax from there to your hotel of choice. It will take between 5 to 7 minutes.

If you rent a car at the airport, it will take you about an hour to reach Toledo, but the car is useless once you are in Toledo. You will have to park it outside of the city walls or leave it in the big underground parking located in the city centre. You can eventually use the car to go to the University where there is a parking lot in front of one of the Gates.

How to arrive at UCLM-Fábrica de Armas

The ISUAAAT conference will be hosted on the Campus named “Fábrica de Armas” (Weapon Factory) of the UCLM in building 5 “Envases de Cartón – Paraninfo” (Carton Packaging). The nearest gate of the Campus is 12-15 m walking from the nearest point of the city walls (2-3 m by taxi). There are buses arriving at a second gate of the Campus (The one that is closest to the Conference venue but the farthest away from the city centre (Calle San Pedro el Verde 1)).

Hotel Information

We have not booked hotels for the conference, but we can give a piece of advice to stay and enjoy Toledo during the ISUAAAT 16.

The first recommendation is that you book your hotel as soon as possible. Staying in Toledo is difficult on Friday and Saturday nights. Toledo is a Touristic place, even for the Spanish, and there and during the weekends there are many weddings of couples residing in Madrid and most of the invitees tend to stay over the night.  If you find difficulties and you arrive the Friday or Saturday before an alternative is to stay in Madrid Friday and Saturday night to visit Madrid and move to Toledo the night of the Sunday.

It is recommended that you stay if possible and the budget allows in the historic center where most of the hotels are. Green zone in Figure 1. The hotels here are historic buildings with an uneven degree of restoration depending on the hotel. They are well located both to attend the conferences and to go out in the evening.

Keep in mind that the Cathedral of Toledo is about 2 km away from the conference venue (about 30 m walking).

The nearest of these hotels is Hotel Hacienda del Cardenal but you can find many more three- and four-stars hotels. There are some other hotels along Calle (Street) Marques de Mendigorria. The distance to the conference venue is essentially the same as from the centre but you must walk (5 to 10 m) to Toledo centre for visiting and going out.

Outside of Toledo on the south bank of the Tajo River, there are new hotels (e.g. El Parador de Toledo). The views are nice and less pricy than in the centre for the same quality but remember that you will have to take a short taxi ride (5m) every time you need to go to the Toledo centre or the conference venue since they are not a walking distance from ISUAAAT.

Some of the other hotels in the vicinity have been listed here: Eurostars Toledo, Hotel Cigarral El Bosque, Hotel Azacanes, Entre Dos Aguas Hotel Boutique, Medina Mudejar Toledo, Hotel La Bastida, Hotel Pintor El Greco, Tripolis Toledo Hostal, Hotel Maria Cristina, Hotel Zentral Mayoral. Hotel Domus Plaza Zocodover. The last image on the page shows the locations of these hotels relative to the conference venue which is higlighted in yellow

We remind you that Airbnb can be another option for groups wanting to share the same space.

We were unable to book hotels in advance. Please book yourself as soon as possible, especially Friday and Saturday nights. Lodging can become a critical issue in Toledo in September.
